FLO Reward Program: Earn 10¢/kWh on Home EV Charging in Ontario

If you drive an EV in the Greater Toronto Area and charge at home, there's a new reason to look at the charger on your garage wall. FLO, the Canadian charging network, has introduced the FLO Reward Program, which offers FLO home charger rewards in Ontario and across Canada: according to FLO, enrolled drivers earn 10¢ per eligible kWh charged at home on a connected FLO Home charger, and at eligible public FLO stations. FLO lists the eligible home models as the FLO Home X3, X5, X6 and X8.
Here's what the program is, which chargers qualify, why your Wi-Fi now matters, and how it fits with Ontario's Ultra-Low Overnight electricity rate. Everything below about the program comes from FLO's own published program page and Terms and Conditions. Check those pages before you enrol, because FLO can change the terms.
What is the FLO Reward Program?
Once you're enrolled, FLO says you "earn 10¢ per eligible kWh at home or at FLO stations on the road." The Terms put it this way: "As of the date of these Program Terms, the Reward Rate is $0.10 for each kWh of Eligible Charging. All amounts are in Canadian dollars."
A few things worth knowing up front:
- No cost to join. FLO's page says there are "No fees, no deposit, and no purchase required beyond the charging you choose to do."
- Rewards start when you enrol. FLO says "Rewards start on the day you join; earlier charging doesn't count."
- Who can join: Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province and have a FLO account in good standing. You enrol in the FLO app under the "FLO Reward Program" page in Account & settings.
- It's meant for individual drivers. A FLO Home used for a fleet, a workplace or a business isn't eligible.
When can you actually use the rewards?
Rewards build up now, but you can't spend them yet. The Terms say that until FLO announces an availability date, "Rewards can be accumulated… but cannot be spent." FLO's targets:
- Spring 2027 (expected): use your rewards to pay for charging on the FLO network and partner networks.
- Fall 2027 (expected): request a cash transfer to a Canadian bank account in your name. The Terms set a $100 minimum per transfer.
FLO is clear that "the dates… are targets and may change," and that it "does not guarantee that the Program will continue for any particular period, that the Reward Rate will remain unchanged for future charging." It also says rewards already earned are honoured at the rate in place when you charged. One more note from FLO: rewards "may constitute additional income and may be taxable," so talk to your tax advisor if that matters to you.
Which FLO Home chargers are eligible?
According to FLO, the eligible home models are the FLO Home X3, X5, X6 and X8. In FLO's words: "Other FLO Home models, including the FLO Home G5, cannot be connected to the Internet and are not eligible for the Program." FLO says no other brand or model is eligible.
If you already own one of the eligible models, FLO says there's "no need to buy a new charger." It has to be online and paired with your FLO app.
According to FLO, the program also includes a Program Lifetime Warranty. While your eligible FLO Home stays enrolled, connected and paired, the length of its standard limited warranty is extended for as long as the program runs. The standard warranty terms still apply, and FLO notes that the warranty covers parts only.
Wi-Fi at the charger: the practical install question
This is where your electrician comes in. To earn at home, FLO requires that your charger be "connected to the Internet (either through Wi‑Fi or its PLC module) and communicating with FLO's systems at the time of the Charging Session." If it isn't, FLO warns, sessions "may not be recorded and will not qualify for rewards."
How each model connects, according to FLO:
- X3, X6 and X8: Wi-Fi.
- X5: a PLC module that comes in the box. It plugs into a wall outlet and connects the station to the internet through your home's electrical wiring.
Garages, driveways and basement walls are often the weakest Wi-Fi spots in a house. A few things to think about before or during an install:
- Check the signal where the charger will go. Stand at the planned mounting spot with your phone and see how well your home Wi-Fi works there. FLO itself says "a Wi-Fi extender usually fixes a weak signal."
- Plan the location with connectivity in mind. Sometimes a small change in mounting position makes a real difference, as long as it still works for the electrical run and your parking.
- Pair it right away. Pair the charger under "My Charger" in the FLO app and confirm it shows as online before your first rewards session.
- Condos and apartments: FLO says you can take part only if the FLO Home is your own, installed for your exclusive use. A charger owned or managed by the building or condo corporation isn't eligible.
How it fits with Ontario's Ultra-Low Overnight rate
Ontario homeowners can already cut charging costs by choosing the Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) electricity price plan and scheduling charging for overnight hours. We explain how that works in our guide to Ontario Ultra-Low Overnight EV charging.
The FLO Reward Program is separate from your electricity bill. FLO's reward is based on eligible kWh delivered through your connected charger, and the rate is the same whatever time of day you charge. So you can schedule charging overnight to suit your utility rate plan and still earn FLO rewards on those sessions, provided the charger is online, paired and enrolled. Your actual results will depend on your rate plan, how much you drive and FLO's current terms, so we're not going to guess at a dollar figure.

FAQ
Does the FLO Home G5 earn rewards?
No. FLO states the G5 "cannot be connected to the Internet" and is not eligible. The eligible home models are the X3, X5, X6 and X8.
Can I cash out my rewards today?
Not yet. Rewards build up from your enrolment date. FLO expects to let you pay for charging with them in spring 2027 and to allow cash transfers (minimum $100) in fall 2027. FLO says these dates are targets and may change.
What if my charger loses its Wi-Fi connection?
FLO says sessions during a lost connection may not be recorded and will not qualify for rewards. A strong signal at the charger location matters.
Can Electro Group install a FLO charger at my home?
Yes. We supply and install CSA-approved FLO chargers across Toronto and the GTA, and can install other brands too. Contact us for a free quote.
